At Akira, ramen takes center stage. The Akira Ramen, their namesake dish, has garnered rave reviews for its rich and flavorful broth, complemented by handmade noodles that arrive at your table piping hot. Each bowl is a hearty portion, beautifully garnished with fresh ingredients like scallions, nori, and seasonal vegetables. Customer favorites include the Tempura Udon, a luxurious hot udon soup featuring shrimp and vegetable tempura, and the Mentaiko Udon, a creamy delight accentuated with fish roe. These dishes not only satisfy hunger but also offer a sensory experience, from the first fragrant bite to the last slurp of noodles.

Beyond ramen, the menu boasts an array of other enticing options like donburi and soba, making it a perfect spot for those craving variety. One highlight that stood out to many guests is the Chashu Don, marinated diced pork served over rice, which is both flavorful and comforting. The Soba dishes, though delectable, provide a different taste experience that some patrons suggest may not compete with the lavish depth found in ramen.

The food has been absolutely delicious. However, if you’re a fan of chicken or lamb, your options may be a bit limited. The soups were flavorful, and the sushi was exceptional. Be sure to ask the waiter for chicken options with your main course—they’ll be happy to assist you. The service is also fantastic.

A quick stop for ramen around 14-16. Their restaurant seated us with no wait on Sunday around noon, and the staff was so nice and answered questions clearly for us. The Akira ramen, their namesake, is my favorite ramen there, though the broths for the other ramens are rich as well. I really enjoyed the croquette with cheese corn and hamachi kamayaki (fried fish) I would recommend sticking to ramen as the main dish, as their soba set was delicious, but also quite single note that was greater the first three bites than the fourth.

One of the best ramen places in the area. They have a larger menu to include different noodle dishes, appetizers, and sushi. The ramen was delicious. The sushi was also good, but the California roll didn’t have cucumber which was odd. Glad to have found another ramen place that serves delicious food. The kids love it too!

Local Japanese restaurant near The Mall in Columbia and I wish I had tried it out sooner. Parking is across the street in the mall parking lot. Just be careful crossing the street. Atmosphere is bright and welcoming, the decor has warm tones of nature with distinctive touches to let you know that you are in a Japanese restaurant. Their hot bowls of ramen are very popular. Handmade noodles! Keep them coming! Most bowls of ramen come piping hot to the table that the server needs to wear special gloves. All of the ingredients were presented to appeal to the eyes and very fresh. Each ramen comes with a delicious flavorful broth and in generous portions to fill anyone who is hungry. Dipping sauces went well with the meals. We had two preteens and they loved the ability to mix and taste a variety of flavors and textures. The birthday girl also happened to get a cute complimentary dessert. I would definitely come back, perhaps during a less busy time of the week. The service was quick, helpful explanations were easily provided and the prices were quite reasonable.

I thoroughly cherished the vibrant atmosphere of this authentic Japanese ramen shop. The tantalizing aromas and warm ambiance made me feel right at home. Both the ramen and sashimi were exceptional, showcasing the freshness and flavors that truly represent Japanese cuisine. Having lived in Japan for nearly a decade, I've developed a discerning palate that distinguishes between the artifice of fake ramen and the genuine, soul-satisfying experience found here. Each bite was a delightful reminder of the culinary mastery that defines the heart of Japan.

Sushi were good. The chicken that was ordered along side the ramen were not cooked thoroughly. They have robots that brings out your order which was cool. My sushi took a little bit longer to come out but overall I enjoyed my visit.

Definitely a must try. I like this branch way better than the white marsh branch. This place can be busy but they are still able to manage their customers and the seating capacity. They offer good variety of meals. They taste good and exquisit as well. Now thinking about it. I always have great experience here vs dining in white marsh. lemme give white marsh a 2 star review haha

If I could give them more than five stars in every category, I would! The food, atmosphere, and service was incredible. Everything was fast, fresh, and beyond delicious. Our server gave us incredible recommendations. I was really amused when he swished my bottle of soju around to create a little tornado inside! There were just so many little touches like that which made the whole experience so much fun. I can't wait to come back.
